One of the few spots we may be using..

Updated INFO:
We have a few spots near Alexandria but waiting to see if the weather holds up, if it is blue sky’s then we are in business and will be sending an sms blast out of where you can be found.
Few points that might help you organize you day better;
· It is a family friendly picnic first and foremost so could be a good idea really to pack an eski/ picnic basket, fruit, drinks and something to sit on etc.
· We have a spot with a stack of grass around with plenty of room for kids, it is 5 mins from city around Alexandria, there is shade but best people bring some hats etc. \
· We will have a basic DJ set up playing everything from Sade to James Brown to De La Soul, Erykah Badu & Masters At Work. It is open decks with rotating DJ’s (but best people get in touch via email if keen to play to confirm time slots)
· We are hoping to kick off by 12pm till around 5 or 6
· We will be waiting for the weather forecast before we make the call as it is outdoors, if it does look like it’s going to rain then we will simply move till next sunny Sunday. (We will be in touch later in the week via email and on the day via SMS in case we have to move the party so we will need your Mob. details too.)
· If you are a local Musician, Mc, Singer, Percussionist or DJ then we are very keen to hear from you if you would like to play, especially if you down to play percussion along the Djs in an open jam vibe for Sunday. (we are hoping to get thing going as a regular Sunday afternoon local soul funk and hip hop open jam session so if your keen to be part of it let us know)
· For local Soul music fan then we simply wants you there enjoying the music, so get a group of friends together, spared the word and come down for a day out it the park.
This came about due to the overwhelming disappointment with the closure of so many GREAT music venues in Sydney recently. So we felt the time was right to organise a local music communal get together for the locals who have been supporting the music and venues we all love.
We will have a Sound System, Decks & Mic set up, so if you are keen to help out with music or a mini show case, let us know via FB or e-mail.

Just caught some GREAT news on twitter that Erykah Badu will back in Sydney early next year performing at the Sydney Opera House & what better way then celebrate with a BADU Mixtape of her dropping rare classic funk and hip hop gems on BBC radio.
Sunday 19th Feb – Sydney Opera House Wednesday 22nd Feb – Palais – Melbourne with Fat Freddy’s Drop
Saturday 25th Feb – Kings Park & Botanic Garden – Perth with Fat Freddy’s Drop
GRAMMY® award winning artist Erykah Badu is touching down in Australia this summer in what is sure to be the hottest ticket of the season.
Forging her own path in soul music and almost single-handedly directing the genre since the ’97 debut Baduizm, Badu’s releases have always demanded critics attention, whilst her live shows incite rapturous engagement from audiences as she bursts through hits like On & On, Love Of My Life, Apple Tree, Tyrone, Bag Lady, Window Seat and more.
Her latest release New Amerykah Part II (Return Of The Ankh) further pushed the boundaries of contemporary soul music, enlisting the work of previous collaborators James Poyser and Ahmir ?uestlove Thompson (The Roots, Al Green) as well as cutting edge producers like Madlib, Sa Ra Creative Partners, Karriem Riggins (Diana Krall) and the late J Dilla.
Erykah Badu will perform live for the very first time in her own headline shows in Australia, offering fans their first taste to see her in concert in exquisite and historic venues such as Sydney Opera House, Melbourne’s Palais Theatre and Perth’s picturesque Kings Park. For the latter two events, she will be joined by New Zealand’s Fat Freddy’s Drop.
The enigmatic seven piece soul act have won the world over with their hypnotic live performances which translate their impeccable records to a live setting in a similarly dynamic fashion to Badu’s razor sharp band. Their last album ‘Live At Roundhouse London’ showcased the incredible live show, which takes in highlights from their albums ‘Based On A True Story’ and ‘Dr Boondigga and the Big BW’ and Australian audiences may be in for a taste of new material, which is hinted at a mid 2012 release.
Do not miss the captivating Erykah Badu as she tours across Australia for the first time in her own headline shows, joined by Fat Freddy’s Drop in Melbourne and Perth for some of the most musically exquisite engagements of the summer programme.

Jay Electronica! Definitely a talent. He always has plenty to say in the lab, on the mic & in this podcast session with Gilles Peterson for Wordwide in England.
I been following his work for a while but have a new found respect after listening to his discussions with Gilles on everything from the current state of Hip Hop,sampling, Erykah Badu‘s jokes, the Detroit ‘music scene’, Dilla to Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
Jay Dee aka J Dilla born James Dewitt Yancey, was one of the few artists whose records were bought on sight, played until digested and then discussed among fans and critics.
He kept Hip Hop relevant long after many of its greatest heroes had left it for dead, at least creatively and is often described as “your favourite producers favourite producer”. There are many talented beat makers and producers, but there will only be one J Dilla!
To commemorate the 5th anniversary of his untimely death ‘The Main Ingredients’ celebrates the music of J Dilla paying homage to the man who shaped a new sound for Hip Hop that inspired beatsmiths, MC’s and music lovers around the globe.
This is some musical therapy were sending out to theSocceroo fans waking up disenchanted and perhaps a little hung-over today after watching last nights World Cup draw with Ghana.
TheFaith Evans vocals and rework by Raphael Saadiq on this ATCQ classic should put you in a better mood.
