HIP HOP: The Game Australian Tour Cancelled | hip hop sydney melbourne

Just caught this news over at Hip Hop Australia

I just received this info from a person affiliated with The Game management / The Black Wall Street Recordsregarding the up and coming The Game Australian & NZ Tour, read below:”It’s with regret that we announce that Game’s upcoming Australian Tour is cancelled. The promoter Hip Hop TV, has failed numerous times to deliver on simple contractual points including paying the artist his fees. Game’s Management have gone above and beyond to give the promoter many chances to fulfill his obligations, and adjusted Game’s schedule to try to make this tour happen, but Hip Hop TV have still failed to deliver. The promoter has shown extreme un-professionalism towards Management, and made many false promises he has not delivered on. Game has successfully performed in Australia numerous times and loves his Australian fans and is extremely disappointed the promoter has failed to deliver his obligations.”

NEW MUSIC: Sydney Vocalist THAVY drops ‘For Your Ears Only’ EP (on Hydrofunk Records) | Soul, Hip Hop, Beats

For Your Ears Only cover art

Thavy Ear is one of the most diverse female vocalists and songwriters to emerge from the Australian music scene having work with an array of artist both in Australia and abroad include: Brian Campeau (Inertia) – DeeJaye Katch (Resin Dogs /2Dogs/Hydrofunk) – David Atkins (2Dogs/Wolfmother) – Resin Dogs (Hydrofunk) – Sereck (Def Wish Cast/Celsius) – Def Wish Cast – Lance Willson – Royalston (Hospital/Med School) – Greg Packer (Interphase/Good Looking) – Ian Peres (Wolfmother) – Alan Mawdsley – HauLatukefu (Koolism) – Abstract Rude (ATU)- Bradford Ellis (The Nextmen) – DJ JS-1 (Rock Steady Crew) – Mark Walton (Fretless) – Will Styles (DubRave) – Avene – Scotty B (DigitalAssassin) – MC Shureshock (The Shureshock Project/Klub Kids) – Midnite Sleaze (Stealth/Vicious) – Danny Merx – Miami Husslers (Housession/Nervous) – Bernardo Garcia..and many more . She has chosen to share her creative energy across the urban and electronic landscapes, equally comfortable on a soulful lounge rhythm as she is on a seductive dance anthem. While the young songstress is not easily comparable, her broad musical horizons take influence from most genres across the modern musical spectrum. “For Your Ears Only“ the EP captures Thavy at her best and comprises 5 outstanding works which were brought to life with the help of David “Acosta” Atkins ( Resin Dogs, Wolfmother) on production duties. “For Your Ears Only“ is set to broaden the appeal for this young artist with amazing production that is sure to please her listening audience. Thavy’s formative years were anything but easy and whilst permanently altered by her upbringing, she refused to become a product of her environment. Instead, she took a background of hardship and used it to inspire some truly remarkable music that is only now reaching full bloom and catching the attention of the Music Industry and music lovers alike. Born to Cambodian parents, Thavy’s love of music began from a young age (her solo album features “Believe” which she wrote at age 13) and was a passion that she pursued throughout her education, culminating with her completion of a Bachelor of Arts in Music Business/Performance at RMIT University. Today Thavy divides her limited time between her job at a major music organisation and the studio where she has worked with an impressive and broad variety of producers and performance acts. While Thavy enjoys working in the corporate side of the music business, her heart is set on writing, performing and dazzling with her own music.

Named by LIFE Magazine as one of the most important Americans of the 20th Century, DJ AFRIKA BAMBAATAA is a musical visionary, DJ extraordinaire, living legend and founder of the Universal Zulu Nation – a collective of socially and politically aware emcees, DJs, graffiti artists and break dancers. With over 35 years trailblazin’ around the world, Bam, as he’s affectionately known, can almost single-handedly be credited for the urban music revolution – redefining music and culture as we know it today. In fact, Bam is the person responsible for coining the term “Hip Hop” in reference to this global movement.

The man behind Hip Hop/Electro Funk classic ‘Planet Rock’ over the years has co-produced and performed with the likes of James Brown, George Clinton, UB40, Fort Knox Five, Leftfield, Jungle Brothers and A Tribe Called Quest among many others.

Bam’s futuristic soundscapes became a major influence in the development of not only hip-hop, but have also been instrumental in laying the foundation for Breaks, Electro, Freestyle, Techno and House music. “Planet Rock” has become arguably the most sampled song in music history, having been remixed and sampled by the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Westbam, George Acosta, LL Cool J, Mariah Carey and countless others. Rap/Metal band Rage Against The Machine also famously covered Bam’s track ‘Renegades of Funk’.

Still extremely active, Bam continues to record, tour and educate, maintaining his status as a living legend and forefather of the art. In 2006, Bam was honored for his incredible achievements by American music channel VH1 at the annual ‘Hip Hip Honors’ show and in 2007; he was nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. More recently, Bam accepted an appointment as visiting scholar at Cornell University where he speaks to classes, meets with students, community groups and performs the music he helped create and expand.

This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to sample what a New York City Block Party is all about, live and direct from the Boogie Down Bronx! Be immersed in the knowledge of a master, icon and living treasure that is DJ AFRIKA BAMBAATAA.

Phil & Sam @ Soul of Sydney & Co.

NOTE: If you haven’t sent you for mobile number can you please forward to soulofsydney@gmail.com in the event we do have to move the party last minute?

A  Few points that might help you organise you day better;

  • It is a FAMILY FRIENDLY PICNIC first and foremost so might be a good idea really to pack for a Sunday Picnic in the park (eski/ picnic basket, fruit, drinks and something to sit on etc.)
  • We have a spot with a stack of grass around with plenty of room for kids, it is 5 mins from city around Alexandria, there is shade but best people bring some hats etc.
  • We will have a Sound System with selectors playing an eclectic mix of real music including everything from Sade to James Brown to De La Soul, Erykah Badu & Masters At Work, Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles.
  • It is open decks with rotating DJ’s (but best people get in touch via soulofsydney@gmail.com if keen to play to confirm time slots)
  • We usually aim to get everything starting at about 12pm with ending time around depending on vibe.
  • We will be waiting for the weather forecast before we make the call as it is outdoors, if it does look like it’s going to rain then we will simply move till next sunny Sunday. (We will be in touch a few days out for the event via email & on the day via SMS in case we have to move the party, so we will need your Mobile details too so we can get location details quicker)
  • ARTIST CALL OUT: If you are a local Musician, MC, Singer, Percussionist or DJ then we are very keen to hear from you if you would like to play, especially if you down to play percussion along the Djs in an open jam vibe for Sunday. (we are hoping to get thing going as a regular Sunday afternoon local soul funk and hip hop open jam session so if your keen to be part of it let us know)
  • For local Soul music fan then we simply wants you there enjoying the music, so get a group of friends together, spread the word and come down for a day out it the park to some real music.

Thanks again for getting behind the idea kids.. Sydney definitely needs more people like YOU!

Pray for good weather & hope to see you all at the next one.

Peace,

Soul of Sydney and Co.
