SOULFUL JAZZY HOUSE: Studio Apartment ft Kenny Bobien – Isnt she lovely (Original), (DJ Oji Lovely Remix) & (DJ Kawasaki Remix)

English: , British drum and bass, house music ...Studio Apartment is the dance music duo of Japanese DJ Masanori Morita and keyboard player Noboru Abe. The two have produced numerous singles that have featured various singers and been compiled into a series of albums. World Line was released in December 2005, followed by People to People in March 2006 and Museum Euterpe in September 2006. For Her for Him for You, released in July 2007, featured Blaze, Monique Bingham, Kimara Lovelace, Ron Carroll, Deborah Bond, and AK. The Rising Sun, issued by King Street Sounds/Nite Grooves in June 2008, featured many of the same performers, along with Joi Cardwell, Akiko, Stephanie Cooke, Terrance Downs, and Kenny Bobien.

Isn’t she lovely” by STUDIO APARTMENT re-works the original Stevie Wonder’s  Soul classic into an all out Soulful House masterpiece that has emerged to become  an underground house classic around the world. This is especially acclaimed track in their release and the 12 inch includes remix for DJ OJI that released previously only available on MIX CD alongside Instrumental mix which never unreleased on CD. Only this release found original re-edit version by Masanori Morita who provides much more bumping beat to the dancefloor.  DJ OJI remixed percussive track interpretation of afro beat original running smoothly. Guitar and saxphone solo playing to the end creates jazzy atomosphere to the dancefloor.DJ OJI’s pounding beat aptly overlayed with Kenny Bobien’s fascinated falsetto voice built into much moody.

COSMIC BOOGIE|FUNK|DISCO: Rotating Soul Records – The East Liberty Quarters EP

It always puts a smile on my face whenever QUALITY MUSIC comes our way & this one, did just that with the Super-Fresh Intergalactic Boogie sounds running right through this 6 track EP from Pittsburgh-based trio Rotating Souls. The EP came through as an email just this morning so I don’t  know much about them, but by listening through I would say they are deeply influenced by Giorgio Moroder, as you can hear that classic funky 80’s Synth-Bass vibes running right through the release.

Really digging this and can’t wait to hear more of Rotating Souls.. & props to them for still putting good music like this on on Vinyl too.

The EP is out on Vinyl! & Digital, click for more info:

Hot off the press our man local musician, producer & DJ Katalyst put together this dope podcast.

This mixtape together as a prelude to my upcoming album – DEEP IMPRESSIONS out in September.Apart from a few sneaky edits (to highlight the moments used by some of the best producers to have turned on a sampler) the tunes are as they appear on the original wax. This series is dedicated to one of my musical inspirations and heroes The Left Rev Eugene McDaniel’s who passed away 29th July 2011. If your reading this and don’t know who the great man was…… do yourself a favour and get familiar! This is Part 1…. more in the series to follow so stay tuned…
