We’ve compiled all of DJ MOTO’s legendary Club Joint Mixtapes into one playlist — the tapes that defined an era for DJs and music lovers across Sydney, Australia, Asia & NZ.

DJ MOTO set the standard: soulful, raw, and timeless capturing the hearts and minds of all of back then.

Back when we were just turning 18, hearing these mixes made us want to jump on the decks ourselves. MOTO’s blend of Hip Hop, R&B, Funk, reggae and soul inspired us & many around us to start getting into music. These tapes were the soundtrack to our youth, whether in cars, on the street, or at home.

D’ANGELO TRIBUTE:

Rest In Peace D’Angelo (1974 – 2025) We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of legendary soul artist D’Angelo, who died overnight after ongoing health issues.

An icon of neo-soul, he was one of the artists who first pulled us into the sound and spirit of the movement.

His uniquely sultry vocals, raw grooves and unmistakable drum feel shaped a generation of soul lovers and creators.

He was a central musical influence and one of the reasons we started SOUL OF SYDNEY many years ago. Rest easy to one of the greats. Your music changed us.

Over ten years ago we put together a tribute mix in his honour, and it remains one of our most loved.

Rest in peace to a true soul music icon.

REVIEW: Teddy Swims Live in Sydney: Country Heart Meets heavy Soul + Blues Roots

TEDDY SWIMS show tonight at Qudos Arena was so just good tonight, I am pretty fussy when it comes to music, Seeing the full live show tonight earned him a whole new level of respect. His voice sounded even better in person — a country singer fronting a band whose roots lie deep in soul, blues, and roots music.

His band, Freak Freely, are phenomenal musicians with serious chops, bridging genres effortlessly, follow them here

You could hear funk grooves, gospel lifts, and blues phrasing threaded throughout the set, creating a rich tapestry that connected different corners of music heritage. Teddy’s surprise cover of Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On was particularly impressive and hit us right in the hearts ♥️

The production and backdrop visuals were cleverly integrated, often creative and trippy, enhancing the nearly two-hour performance, which included an encore.

This show was part of Teddy’s I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy Australian arena tour, presented by Frontier Touring in 5 cities. We recommend checking out the other 2 shows in Sydney if your into the sound.

The tour has already kicked off, and despite being unwell earlier, Teddy recovered and delivered an amazing performance — on top of being in town for the NRL Grand Final.
