Back when we were just turning 18, hearing these mixes made us want to jump on the decks ourselves. MOTO’s blend of Hip Hop, R&B, Funk, reggae and soul inspired us & many around us to start getting into music. These tapes were the soundtrack to our youth, whether in cars, on the street, or at home.

Joining us is Sydney Hip Hop don, crate digger, DJ, and undisputed mixtape king DJ MOTO, the man behind the legendary Club Joints Mixtapes, alongside a dope local lineup including DJ D, PHIL TOKE, DJ SOUP, SEB 1, NICOLE TANIA and the Soul of Sydney DJs.
Hosted by Emcee Queen MIRRAH, with the Soul Patrol Dancers bringing their signature energy to the dancefloor.

Sydney Hip Hop Icon | Vinyl Purist | Mixtape Don
DJ Moto is a true Sydney Hip Hop icon, ex-owner of Anthem Records, Australia’s first dedicated import store for Jazz and Blues, and a full-time DJ since 1997. With over 30 years of crate digging, Moto’s roots are deeply embedded in vinyl culture and the golden era of authentic sound.
His sets are soulful journeys through time, weaving together Golden Era Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Disco, Boogie, Jazz, 90s R&B, Rare Grooves, and timeless 70s and 80s Pop. Known for his impeccable taste and deep musical knowledge, Moto’s mixes are genre-bending, soulful, and unforgettable.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Moto launched Club Joints Mixtapes, Australia’s first and biggest street mixtape service. These mixtapes were massive, shaping the tastes of a generation, influencing DJs across the country, and gaining international attention. The Club Joints Mixtapes became a global phenomenon, spreading Sydney’s authentic Hip Hop and soul culture far beyond its borders.
We are honoured to welcome DJ Moto back for a rare Soul of Sydney afternoon set, where he will bring a heavy dose of Funk, Soul, and Hip Hop to open the season in true style.
