This video from the last week of New York’s most important club has never been seen before in its entirety. Get the popcorn ready.
The Paradise Garage was arguably the greatest club in dance music history. From the mid ’70s until the summer of ’87 it rode the ups and downs of New York nightlife, surviving the disco backlash, nurturing new sounds and acting as a melting pot for NY’s dancers and creatives. Resident DJ Larry Levan has gained cult status since his death in 1992, and the stories of the live performances and the weekend-long parties are engrained in clubbing history.
This 2-hour long video appeared on Youtube this week documenting the closing few days. Until now only snippets have appeared online; this is the first time the internet has seen it in its entirety.
