Struttin’ Fridays at Tonka Bar is proud to once again present Jorge Montiel of the Los Charly’s Orchestra & Imagenes Label, his last gig here in Australia before he returns to the UK.
Joining Jorge will be Phil Toke from the Soul of Sydney crew, for what will be a night of downtown disco funk, soul and latin grooves.

JORGE MONTIEL (Los Charly’s, Imagenes UK)
Having worked with producers & DJs of the caliber of Joey Negro, Pete Herbert & Norman Jay, Jorge Montiel has definitively become one of the main characters on the Funk/Soul scene in the UK.
Born in Venezuela, Jorge moved to the UK in 1999 and started the Imagenes record label with old friend Juan Laya (www.imagenes.co.uk). From the early days of Funk, Soul, Latin and Disco, Jorge’s DJ sessions embrace a wide musical range, whilst keeping a firm grip on the current influences of the contemporary music scene.
On the production side of things, Jorge is co-producer of J&J Edits, The Price Brothers & Los Charly’s Orchestra. He has also worked in collaborations with some of the most prolific producers currently holding it down, such as Faze Action, Pete Herbert, Trujillo, Los Amigos Invisibles and Joey Negro.
PHIL TOKE (Soul Of Sydney, Our House Sydney)
Joining the dots between quality soul, funk, disco, boogie and electro-funk, Phil Toke is a Sydney-based DJ, producer, event organiser and co-founder of local music networks, Soul of Sydney and Our House Sydney.
Phil’s diverse musical style encompasses everything from deep house to afrobeat, disco, soul, and funk. He has a broad musical scope and the ability to keep the quality music flowing, to play with passion and to always keep it coming from the heart.
Having played alongside some of the world’s most influential DJs and vocalists including Marshall Jefferson, Ron Carroll, Joey Negro, Derrick Carter, Chuck Love and John Morales, Phil brings the music to the people – and the people dig!
