MEDIA RELEASE – For Immediate Release, 14th June 2012
In September 2011, six music videos premiered at free events around Sydney and online in quite a unique fashion. Following four months of searching, working, filming and editing – and in conjunction with the Sydney Fringe Festival and the AU review – the project "Captured Sydney" paired six filmmakers with six musicians/bands and the resulting music videos and short films were nothing short of astounding, especially considering all were done without any budget.
Fast forward to 2012 and we’re getting set to do it all over again. Changing things up from last year, Captured this year invites bands/musicians and filmmakers from all around NSW and the ACT to apply for consideration – not just Sydney.
Visit capturedsydney.com to apply NOW and to view the resulting six films from 2011. Applications close July 30th.
Successful applicants will be chosen and contacted bon August 15th and pairings will be made by the end of August. Filmmakers will then have two months to produce a music video or short film, based around one song of the band, under 5 minutes.
The films will premiere in November at events around the State as well as online. The public will be invited to vote for their favourite band, while a selection of industry judges will select the winner among the filmmakers.
Prizes and sponsors will be announced later in the year and if you would like to get involved please don’t hesitate to contact the organisers of the event.
We also invite musicians and filmmakers from outside NSW and the ACT to contact us via the prompt on the website and help bring CAPTURED to your state next.
Captured plans to tour other States in Australia in 2013.
