Innersoul Entertainment,
The Australian Soul music movement is out in full force! Innersoul LIVE provides a platform for the next generation of artists to present their original to a wider audience. Set in the inner city creative hub of Surry Hills, Innersoul Live at PLAY BAR sees two – four carefully selected artists present an acoustic set of their original music in an intimate setting.
With the Australian soul movement out in full force, thanks to the international success of artists like the GRAMMY nominated Hiatus Kaiyote, Innersoul LIVE is here to keep that momentum going locally and beyond. Defying genre boundaries and stereotypes to cover everything from nu-soul, raw and real hip hop and reggae to soulful Rhythm & Blues, Innersoul LIVE is your mid-week dose of soul that will have you transfixed by the talent on display.
Artists that have previously showcased at Innersoul LIVE include ARIA nominated singer/songwriter Jeremy Gregory, Billie McCarthy, Ron E Jones, Tabitha Ojeah, Michael Duchesne (The Voice) and Chantae Cann (featured vocalist with GRAMMY winning Snarky Puppy and GRAMMY nominated The Foreign Exchange), Thandiwe Phoenix and more.
Come down, kick back, and let yourself be moved by the musicality of our local artists at Innersoul LIVE.

Jesse Witney is a significant, soulful voice in Australia’s multicultural music landscape. Talented and charismatic, bilingual and multi-instrumentalist, he presents his songs with passion, ingenuity and conviction. His music is infectious and remarkable, creating a unique blend of styles akin to Paul Simon and a voice that is reminiscent of Sting.
Originally from the small town of Gympie, Qld; Jesse Witney has grown up to encompass a world of music beyond his humble beginnings. Offering a moving, myriad of styles and genres woven delicately together to make a colourful fabric of original world music, Jesse Witney is beyond enchanting, endowing eclectic ideas, concepts, rhythms and languages.
His sound has evolved from years of performing in Australia, Brazil and Europe as he musically bounds through a wide range of genres such as Reggae, Latin, Blues and Folk. Lyrically his music explores themes around empowerment, love and the natural world.
He developed his guitar playing at a tertiary level under the guidance of guitar great ‘Jim Kelly’ (Crossfire). During this time he took particular interest in Brazilian music and travelled to the country on two occasions to absorb the nylon string guitar playing and beautiful Portuguese language.
His latest project the ‘Jesse Witney Trio’ with Juan Andres Mulet (Bass) and Ben Kidson (Drums) sees him stripping back to a small yet dynamic ensemble, enhancing the clarity of good songwriting and musicianship.

Alice Terry sounds like she’s had three husbands and killed them all.
Since leaving her small coastal town of Moruya, Terry has impressed her ever-growing audiences with her big voice and beautiful songs, and has deservedly earned the title of ‘Sydneys first lady of blues’. She effortlessly combines the best parts of folk, jazz and blues, and creates this music which is both sexy and heartbreaking all at the same time.
Terrys spirited performances and clever writing have steadily gained recognition and support, from audiences and peers alike, including supports for: Allen Stone, Beth Hart, Matt Corby, Gail Page, and The Waifs, and festival appearances at: Woodford Folk, Narooma Blues and Rockabilly, Moruya Jazz & Thredbo Blues Festivals just to name a few.
At 24, Alice Terry is already a staple in the Sydney music scene. With the release of her debut, fan-funded, studio album being release September 2014, and judging by the impassioned delivery of her current shows, we can expect big things from this unique, Australian talent.
“The Real Deal.” “The Bomb.”- Grammy Nominee, Beth Hart
