As one half of Grammy winning duo Outkast, he has sold more than 25 million albums and directed the world’s attention to Southern Rap over a decade before anyone had heard of Lil Wayne. His debut solo album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty was without doubt one of the biggest releases of 2010, culminating in numerous accolades including triple j album of the week and finding its place in many ‘best of 2010’ lists just a few months ago. Brief promotional performances in Australia last year had people salivating for more and now, Niche Productions can confirm that Big Boi is back! And he’s bringing his full live band and AV/Show with him!

As a headline performer at numerous festivals across the globe last year, Big Boi aka Antwan Andre Patton wins the crowd over with a high energy set featuring belters from his solo album including pop crossover ‘Follow Us,’ the street banger ‘General Patton’ and of course, one of the breakthrough singles of 2010 ‘Shutterbugg’ as well as incorporating classic Outkast material such as ‘I Like The Way You Move,’ ‘Rosa Parks’ and ‘So Fresh So Clean’ with the accompanying music videos blasted on screens. Add to that the extra oomph of bass, guitar, horns and of course DJ and hype man and you have one of the world’s most fun and electric live shows.

After 2006’s Outkast album and film Idlewild, Big Boi kept busy working on Sir Lucious Leftfoot… in between projects with the Atlanta Ballet Company and nurturing up and coming talent Janelle Monae, whose debut solo album was another crossover hit of 2010, proving he is as much the creative chameleon as his partner in rhyme, Andre 3000.

Accolades for Big Boi’s Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son Of Chico Dusty
• triple j Album of the Week
• #77 ‘Shutterbugg’ – triple j Hottest 100
• Top 40 ARIA Chart album
• #3 Debut on Billboard 200 Chart
• #4 Best Albums of 2010 – Pitchfork
• #14 Best Songs of 2010 ‘Shutterbugg’ – Rolling Stone
• #21 Best Albums of 2010 – Rolling Stone

Joining Big Boi will be Brooklyn, NYC artist Theophilus London for his debut tour of the country. With his debut EP Lovers Holiday recently released by Warner, London has already gathered a swag of fans and praise for his three mixtapes The Lovers, This Charming Mixtape and Jam! and is considered by many as a style icon both musically and in fashion. He has already collaborated with Mark Ronson for a Gucci promotion and separately with The Daptones for his cover of Calypso Blues (made popular by Nat King Cole) as well as referencing Elvis Costello on the cover for his Charming mixtape. His style on Lovers Holiday effortlessly traverses Chillwave, Hip-Hop, RnB, Electro, Slo Mo House, Boogie and Soul and a recent appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman has him poised in the eyes of many to take over once his full length album drops in May.

With a career spanning nearly two decades and still innovating Rap, Soul and Hip-Hop, Big Boi is a pioneer who is cherished across a number of genres. Do not miss ‘General Patton’ and his superb live band together with Theophilus London as they touch down across Australia and New Zealand in August and September 2011.

Murs – BadMan! (2008) Vs The Mighty Diamonds – Illiteracy (1981) + R.A. the RUGGED MAN, MURS & 9th WONDER Sydney Concert Info

Murs – Bad Man

The Mighty Diamonds – Illiteracy

Thursday 5th May The Gaelic club Sydney

For the first time under one roof are some of the finest artists in the underground, MURS & 9th Wonder and R.A. the Rugged Man. Together their careers have displayed the ability to last the test of time. With numerous albums and world tours under their belt, the combination of all of these artists on one event will ensure we get blessed with an incredible experience.

MURS & 9th Wonder
What happens when a dreadlocked, vegan rapper from LA joins forces with one of the most respected producers out of North Carolina? You get the skilful combination of Murs & 9th Wonder. Separately both artists have established themselves as veterans of the scene. Murs gained recognition for nearly a decade of working with various groups in the underground, including 3 Melancholy Gypsies (3MG), Living Legends, and Felt (with Slug of Atmosphere). On the other hand, 9th Wonder’s smooth, soulful production credits read like a who’s who of the industry, having worked with established acts including Little Brother, EPMD, De La Soul, Mary J. Blige, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Drake, Buckshot, Destiny’s Child, Erykah Badu, Ludacris, Jean Grae and plenty more.
Murs is no stranger to Australia. Having sold out shows with his previous solo tours, he has proven that his fan base stretches half way around the world and has consistently dominated the Australian stages with his high energy live shows. However, this is his first time bringing along his partner in crime, 9th Wonder, and the addition will make for an incredible combination. Together they have teamed up for a handful of collaboration albums including “Murs 3:16: The 9th Edition” (2004), “Murray’s Revenge” (2006), “Sweet Lord” (2008) and their latest project “ForNever”. Now it’s time to show Australia what the two can do together on stage. ::

R.A. the Rugged Man
R.A. the Rugged Man is no stranger to the scene. The Long Island, New York native has been delivering his intense style of lyricism throughout the underground since 1992. Throughout his career he’s worked with various artists including the Notorious B.I.G., Mobb Deep, Sadat X, Chuck D of Public Enemy, Jedi Mind Tricks, Kool G Rap, Wu-Tang Clan, Erick Sermon, Alchemist and more.
The MC, who has alluded to suffering from mental illness, has openly talked about coming from a broken home. His father was a Vietnam veteran affected by Agent Orange, his brother Maxx was born handicapped and blind, eventually dying at the age of 10, while his sister Dee Ann couldn’t walk or speak (She later died in 2007 at the age of 27).
As well as his passion for Hip Hop, RA also used to write a monthly movie column, has written three screenplays with cult horror film director Frank Henenlotter, and also recently signed a book deal that will explore his love of boxing. Last time R.A. the Rugged Man visited our shores he left audiences stunned with his energetic lyricism, and slightly grotesque, yet loveable stage show. It’s time for the big man to return!

It’s time to make some noise for one of the pioneers of the Neo Soul movement – ERYKAH BADU! From the lady that brought us classics like “Didn’t Cha Know”, “Bag Lady”, “I Want You”, “Ye-Yo”, “On&On”, “Tyrone” and “Love of My Life (Hip Hop)”, Erykah Badu has made an indelible mark in the music industry not only as a creative genius, but as an original artist in a league of her own.  Badu seamlessly fuses organic sounds of  African rhythms, to Hip Hop, to Jazz, Soul to Funk. As a mother, singer/songwriter, producer and entertainer she can hypnotize an audience without the overbearing  trait of preaching a movement – she just lives it.

After rumours of having been denied to perform for Peats Ridge Festival 09/10, a petition has been created via Facebook to let major promoters know that there is a fanbase in Australia. The petition aims to make some waves in the industry with the desired outcome of a future Australian tour! Her new album NEW AMERYKAH Pt.II: Return of the Ankh will be released on the 25th of February, 2010 which sees her collaborate with multiple artists from Jay Electronica, 9th Wonder, Shafiq Husayn of SA RA, Madlib, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Lil Wayne and Bilal to name a few. Honorable mention goes to J DILLA for the use of his production  beyond the grave in the collaboration track entitled ‘LOVE’.

The Erykah Badu petition in essence is all about music – her music, and the heart of the petition is YOU – her fans. Music is our universal language. You know it. I know it. It’s that knowing smile we’ve all experienced. Sometimes we wish the world could take it’s time with us. But it doesn’t. Music is the only thing that can make us take control and say ‘world, you gotta wait…cos my jams on!’

It’s the tingles, the goosebumps, it’s the headnod, it’s the smile….it’s losing ourselves in the moment….it just is.

Music speaks, moves, inspires, instills faith, HEALS and encourages strength through boldness!!

Our efforts combined can make it happen – this is not possible without YOU! Let’s make some noise!!
