HIP HOP & FILM ART EXHIBIT | HIP HOP AND CHILL art exhibition featuring the work of local artist SOPHIEAYE aka Sophie Al-Bazouni.
Kicking off this Wednesday at M2 Gallery in Surry Hills, just next door to Le Garage Hair & Records.
Sophie Al-Bazouni, also know as Sophieaye, is a Sydney based artist who’s work predominately deals with aspects of Hip Hop culture. Her work is a reflection of what she loves.
In her first solo exhibition, Hip Hop and Chill, she turns the tables on the classic Netflix slang term to explore the influential nature of film in the rap world. Sophieaye has created a number of portraits separated into three categories based on classic Hip Hop films, rappers who have turned to acting and the movie characters and films which have inspired rap personas and the stories told within the lyrics.
The subjects Sophieaye has chosen to paint have all resonated with her at some point in her life. This exhibition is a dedication to her love for Hip Hop.
