Da Truth 1

Emanuel Lee Lambert is a man of his word. To God, to his family and most of all to Hip Hop! The difference is Lambert sought and received a different testimonial to the path his life was on and answered the call of his life’s purpose through Hip Hop.

With a legion of followers in his wake, DA Truth is like a modern day pied piper, spitting rhymes of truth and resolve through the vehicle of hip hop laden tracks that appeal to a broad age and cultural demographic. Having been a student…

GIG: Tornado Wallace (Beats in Space, ESP Institute) to play One Night Stand | Disco Deep House, Garage,

More disco heat from our good friends at picnic.

So here it is. Our last party for the summer, on the last day of summer, with Tornado Wallace’s last Sydney show before he moves to Berlin. It’s all come down to this!
We kicked the One Night Stand series off in 2015 with all-night debutant Ben Fester and man it was a special night. Now we’re going from dazzling newcomer to ONS grandmaster with Mr Lewie Day AKA Tornado Wallace going for his FOURTH marathon set, this time down at the Oxford Art Factory.
It’s been another huge 6 months for Lewie, bookended by his second sensational 12-inch for ESP Institute, ‘Circadia‘, which dropped back in September and this week’s release on Beats In Space, ‘Kangaroo Ground / Ferntree Gully‘, which features a growling acid thumper on the A-side that’s truly one of his finest. Click the links to check out the official video clips for each!
He’s also bittersweetly wrapped up C Grade, the life-changingly awesome party he’s been running with the Otologic boys in Melbourne since 2008, and he’ll be waving goodbye to his Animals Dancing brethren indefinitely after their Marcellus Pittman party as he heads to Europe via Asia. Queue tears.
Have a listen to his amaaazing set from this year’s Rainbow Serpent last month, it is SO FANTASTIC!
Tornado Wallace at Rainbow Serpent 2015
Aw man this is gonna be one vibey vibe. And here comes the gifty part…
The first 100 presale ticket holders through the door at Lewie’s ONS will receive a free hard copy ticket to our Picnic 7th Birthday Party over at The Imperial Hotel on March 28th!!! Details on that gig below but needless to say this is a damn sweet offer 🙂 get in on it!
We gots a double pass to give away to one lucky Wallace fan – just email Carly with the subject "Auf wiedersehen Lewie!" to get your shot.
If you don’t manage to snag it, don’t worry – you can still grab your Tornado Wallace ONS presales now from Moshtix.Do that and make sure you get down to OAF for a 9pm start to grab those free bday tickets, and to hear the start of a spectacular all-night set!

After releasing his critically acclaimed debut album “Early Riser” on Flying Lotus’ label Brainfeeder last year, and following a whirlwind visit to Australia in late 2014 for the inaugural Red Bull Music Academy x Boiler Room Chronicles broadcast, Taylor McFerrinreturns to our fine island in March for a five-date national club tour, the next installment of the Red Bull Music Academy Club Night Series.

With Pitchfork describing the aforementioned LP as “Undeniable beauty” and The Times deeming it as “A sliver of intricate, sun-dappled, jazz-soaked electronica” – expect to be blown away by the multi-instrumentalist that not only stole the hearts of Australia’s own Hiatus Kaiyote, but has been praised by the likes of Prince, Pharrell Williams, Erykah Badu, Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson, Common, DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Those who witnessed Taylor take the stage at last year’s event will know something special is in store – he will be delighting crowds with a solo execution of his much-praised debut album “Early Riser”, in a series of performances that are sure to go down in Red Bull Music Academy history.

Influenced by a myriad of musical styles, this genre-defying producer blends anything from 60/70s soul, to modern era hip-hop, free form jazz and electronic music. In his solo live performances, McFerrin has found a sound that seamlessly bridges musical worlds, creating something that is instantly identifiable and entirely unique to the Brooklyn-based producer.

Since creating a major buzz with his first EP, “Broken Vibes”McFerrin has toured worldwide as a one-man show and has played major festivals such as Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, The Big Chill, and Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival. In his home base of New York City, he has performed at legendary venues like The Apollo, The Blue Note, Radio City Music Hall and The Lincoln Jazz Center opening up for artists such as Erykah Badu, The Roots, Nas, Talib Kweli and Robert Glasper.

In addition to producing and performing, Taylor has served as the head Instructor of the pioneering Beat Rockers program over the past 4 years, teaching beatboxing and musical self-expression to students who are blind and/or have multiple disabilities at the Lavelle School for the Blind in the Bronx. A deep-rooted, unparalleled passion for creating and sharing music is a trait that is certainly conveyed in his music.

NEW MUSIC: FLIGHT FACILITIES: Down to Earth music video feat. coreography from Vince Paterson| Nu Disco Deep House

Digging this clip we caught this morning of the new Flight Facilitates cut ‘Down to Earth’.

Check out the moves put together by the in demand choreographer Vince Paterson of Michael Jackson, Madonna & Cirque Du Soleil fame.

“I really, really liked the song, and it was an honour to work with legendary choreographer Vincent Paterson.  I’m the kinda guy that likes to shake my tail feather, and so it was a great opportunity to get some new moves, especially to such a sweet beat.” – Sam Rockwell
After soaring high in 2014 with their critically acclaimed debut album release and first worldwide headline tour, Flight Facilities now head back “Down To Earth” as they release the album’s title track with what may become their own crowning “Fatboy Slim x Christopher Walken’ video moment, featuring none other than Hollywood superstar Sam Rockwell (The Green Mile, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Seven Psychopaths).
Sydney’s favourite production duo Jimmy and Hugo, aka Flight Facilities, have started the new year off on a high with two placements in Triple J’s hottest 100 in January, closing the Laneway Festival main stage to capacity crowds in early February and returning to North America for a second round of headline dates over the next few weeks. Amidst the hectic touring commitments, the pair still found time to film the ‘Weapon Of Choice’-channelling video clip for “Down To Earth”.
The video director Rhett Wade Ferrell, who previously worked his magic on the videos for “Sunshine” with Reggie Watts and breakthrough single “Crave You” featuring Giselle (currently sitting on an astonishing 15 million views), had the following to say of the exciting high-profile collaboration:

“Sam is one of my favourite actors and he is incredibly watchable. We knew Sam was a great dancer but Jimmy, Hugo and I always believed the tone of the video should be more of a “ dancing when no one is looking” vibe than a super tight well rehearsed dance video.”

The clip shows off Rockwell’s lesser-known talents – with help from choreographerVince Patterson (Michael Jackson, Madonna) – as he prances through a diner, dancing to “Down To Earth”, only to wake up from a twisted daydream. Note: spot the Flight Facilities cameo.
Flight Facilities’ Jimmy & Hugo said of the experience of working with the Hollywood A Lister:
“It started as a fantasy idea in the park 6 months ago and we still can’t believe it’s happened. It couldn’t be more appropriate that the song is ‘Down To Earth’ because it speaks to Sam’s character in every aspect of his involvement in the project. Between Sam and Vincent Paterson, it was something we’ll never forget, and something we can’t thank them enough for being a part of”
With Vic Mensa heading on stage at Laneway Festival shows in Sydney and Melbourne to perform his own rendition of “Down to Earth”, the likes of inthemix ranking the song in the top 100 tracks of 2014, and the addition of Mr. Rockwell’s tap dancing seal of approval, it is only a matter of time before Flight Facilities invade airwaves and sound systems yet again. So just like Mr Rockwell, live out your wildest daydreams with “Down to Earth”.
