The Sydney Soul Weekender from 29 to 31 August 2014 celebrates Northern Soul with storming up-tempo classics, soulful Crossover and lush Modern played exclusively from vinyl by top local and interstate DJs.

No other underground music scene has survived for so long as Northern Soul. Sparked into life by young music enthusiasts in clubs of the North of England in the late 60s it is now a worldwide phenomenon with a strong foothold in Australia and Sydney. Northern Soul’s legacy as first independent dance music scene is undisputed and always remained unchanged in its values – it’s simply about having a good time dancing the night away to those records made by American Soul artists who were often as obscure as the vinyl they produced.
