MUSIQ SOULCHILD – DEBUT AUSTRALIAN TOUR – SEPTEMBER 2012

Today I have a little treat for everyone in the FMF family. My man Eilon from the Dust & Grooves project asked me to contribute to the Kickstarter campaign with an exclusive, all vinyl 45 rpm mixtape. How could I refuse? What you see in the video, is me going through the process of picking out records, talking about records, and getting an inside look at my lab and some of my records. Just a normal day here at Flea Market Funk headquarters (that is, when my son is sleeping). If you happen to like the video and want to help preserve vinyl, go on over to our Kickstarter page and donate. If you donate, you get this exclusive all 45 vinyl Funk mix. Also, please share this video on facebook or RT on twitter. Thanks! There is even an intro on this mix recorded secretly of the infamous Stinky…
WHAT: ‘It’s All Yours’ solo show
WHERE: The Tate @ The Toxeth, 345 Glebe Point Road, Glebe, Sydney
WHEN: Show opens Wednesday 15th August, from 6pm til 9pm and runs
until the 19th August.
“The Tate Gallery enthusiastically presents resident artist Takie and
her first solo show, IT’S ALL YOURS.
Takie returns from a two year sabbatical in Melbourne that ensconced
her within the street art scene and established her artistic roots.
Transposing that beginning into the exhibiting realm has been a fluid
extension of her energetic and unique approach to line and colour.
An addiction to change means the range of mediums used and styles
explored is rapid and unrestrained. Takie’s work marries her obsession
of documenting the words and images that surround her with a
dependencyon colour to act as a portal to the emotion, feelings and
attachments that follow.
Her work let’s her play out a reactionist stance of the world and it’s
happenings. Works find themselves on found objects, salvaged scraps
and a field of paper. It’s all yours, transcribed by the deliberate
hand that never stops seeing.”
In what was a special day, Our House Sydney teamed up with good friends Soul Of Sydney to bring its first installment of the “Spirit Of House”Block Parties. These parties allow us to pay special tribute to REAL House music and its Funk & Disco roots in FREE family friendly & PEOPLE FRIENDLY out-door location including car parks, lane-ways, parks, roof-tops and warehouse spaces around town.
The Venue: As you can see in the picture, we didn’t end up in the park for the House Picnic as we originally intended due to some ominous clouds and some pretty temperamental Sydney weather. We did however set up our Sound in this dope inner-city Car Park location smack bang between a Chinese Temple and 3 buildings for a proper Block Party.
Big luv to everyone who came down and especially and was part of the fun, check out this killer 4 hour mix from CO-OP’s James Scott who battled put on an absolute house music lesson in every sense of the word.
