Love the amount of SOUL running right through most music I hear from Detroit, whether it be the House, Funk or Hip Hop there always seems to be a bit if Motown when cats like Theo Parish touch a record.

Humans have used masks for different purposes throughout time. One of the main reasons has been to create a different atmosphere in parties involving music, dance and art.
Knowing that the word Bossa was a typical slang originated in Brazil to describe anything that could be ‘cool’, we decided to put on a party to bring the cool attitude of Multicultural Sydney at its best. We are going to transform one of the best live music venues in Sydney (Blue Beat) into a ‘ludic’ night of music and dance.
Featuring Abuka an upcoming power trio that has been known all over Sydney by its delivery of funky infused grooves that allow our senses to experience different sounds and rhythms. In other words be prepared for a heavy dose of mix Brazilian rhythms with jazz and funk.
Alongside the terrific Abuka, Dj La Veneria and Dj Rapha (Vibez Brazil) we’ll keep you busy in the dance floor in a mix range of funky cheeky tunes and up-beat tropical sounds of Latin America.
Choose your mask, dust off your dancing shoes and be prepared for this unmissable and exotic night full of funky grooves! Damn!

RIP Donna Summer A Love Trilogy Full Album Remembering Disco Queen
Four Seasons of Love is the fourth album released by singer Donna Summer. Released on October 11th, 1976, this concept album became her third consecutive successful album to be certified gold in the US. It peaked at #29 on the Billboard 200.
This was the third concept album Summer had made, though unlike the previous two which had contained one long track on side one and a small selection of slightly shorter ones on side two, Four Seasons Of Love was more equally balanced. The album told the story of a love affair by relating it to the four seasons. Side One contained “Spring Affair” and “Summer Fever”, both disco tracks, and Side Two contained “Autumn Changes” (a slightly slower disco number) and “Winter Melody” (which had an even slower beat), plus a reprise of “Spring Affair”. This concept was reflected in the four photos of Summer, one for each season of the year, in a pull-out 1977 calendar included with the original LP album.

His contributions became legendary and paved the way for therelease of his acclaimed debut album, Heavy Mental, in the spring of 1998. Since then he has released numerous solo & group albums; and made countless guest appearances! Killah Priest will be performing with Ghostface Killah for Rap City.

SUPPORTED BY: Sky’High
Others will hear the raw aggression and recognise the ideas, hooks and melodies are undeniable proof of one of the most exciting voices to emerge in local Hip Hop yet. Sky’High diversifies and illuminates the possibilities of what’s going on here, giving volume to an Australian voice the mainstream generally shut down.
The creative fearlessness of Sky’High’s debut not only hits the mark but crashes through it. Whether it’s the grime of ‘Reign’, or the Hip Hop of ‘Don Dada’ or ‘Forever Gone’, she remorselessly smashes it outta the park. But it’s when Sky reveals her vulnerability in the brutal yet achingly beautiful ‘Nuclear Love’ that the listener stops dead in their tracks.
This is why else world-renowned NZ producer P-Money pursued her—the first Australian act he’s overseen. It’s why Elefant Traks got on deck and why Duck Down artist David Dallas collaborated on the album. It’s also why Rolling Stone and Sydney Morning Herald pinpointed her out as an artist to watch.
OK folks, just a quickie (and who doesn’t love a quickie in the morning!)
The members Pre-Release tickets are now over 75% sold, so if you know you’re coming to Peats this year this is your last chance to pick yourself up a ticket at the best possible price.
If you’re not quite sure yet, don’t worry, we’ll be having a general public Pre-Release in a few weeks, but if you’re definitely joining us you probably don’t want to dally on this one.

Melbourne-based soul artist Jess Harlen debuts the breakthrough single from her anticipated full length album Neon Heartache, the initial release from the freshly launched Plethora Records. Titled “Watch The Water”, the song is the first sample of music from the heralded musical collaboration between Harlen (named ‘Best Unsigned Artist‘ at the 2007 Urban Music Awards) and 2008 ARIA Nominee and 2009 Mercury Prize Winner (for his work with Speech Debelle) Plutonic Lab.
“Watch The Water” combines the grace of acoustic melodies with solid rhythms and soulful introspection- a small teaser into Neon Heartache’s depth and poise. Included with the lead single is the album track “Diamond”, a gritty bass-driven blues number backed by midnight reflection and heartbeat tempos- a beautiful contrast to “Watch The Water.”
Produced by Plutonic Lab, Neon Heartache showcases the incredible musical talent Harlen has been harnessing for years – touring the globe with roots giants Blue King Brown as well as guesting on Muph & Plutonic‘s acclaimed 2008 album, …And Then Tomorrow Came.

Nickodemus’ first musical love has been hip-hop – in large part because of hip-hop’s ability to convey a poignant social commentary through lyrics and production. This is what drew him and Justin Carty together to form the project “A New York Minute,” released in May 2011 to critical acclaim. The project brought together the top talent in New York City’s underground hip-hop culture The Real Live Show, Rabbi Darkside & iLLspokinN – as well as legendaryMC Sadat X (Brand Nubian) to do a track and video inspired by the uprisings in the Arab world, the Wisconsin labor strikes & the possibility of the same tipping point in NYC. Nickodemus and Carty always envisioned a continuation of the “A New York Minute “to be “A Global Minute” and the opportunity presented itself in September of 2011 when a musical DJ collective The Beirut Groove Collective, and Jembe Music invited Nickodemus to Beirut – one of the cities most associated with the turbulence of modern Middle East history and a city that has held a special place in hip-hop lore for decades. The hub of the burgeoning Arab hip-hop movement, Beirut has gone largely unnoticed as the uprisings in the Middle East have taken on despots, dictators and monarchs with unflinching bravery and ingenuity. Beirut’s fight, however, is one that represents Arab struggles on many fronts.
“A Beirut Minute” video/song will help illustrate why Lebanon is a country still recovering from a devastating 1975-1990 Civil War and more recently the War versus Israel in 2006, despite it being a top tourist destination over the last 3 years. Through A Beirut Minute people will be viewing Beirut through the lyrical talents of four of the finest Arab MCs on the scene today including, Edd Fareeq l’Atrash, Yaseen, Malikah (who’s worked with everyone from Nate Dogg to Cheb Mami) & Ram6 Hamorabi, rhyming over a raw 70’s style drum-break & flipping to a Middle-Eastern Tarab-sampling Hip-hop beat. Vocal version & an instrumental included.
As of 7pm tonight, Chance Waters will be officially releasing his new single “Maybe Tomorrow”, check the unlisted YouTube link below to have a listen immediately!
Here is what Lewi McKirdy said about the song at Triple J;
“So jaunty and sweet! The charm of the song fully curtains the neg-out theme in the lyrics. I love that! Such a bright spin on a bunch of bad shit. Sunny dispositions fix a lot.”
Please contact me if you would like to be door listed for the Sydney show this Saturday night at the FBi Social.
Following the success of his first single ‘Infinity’, (currently sitting at over 20,000 views on YouTube), Chance has had his head down in the studio and this weekwill release his new track, ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ from his soon to be released album, ‘Infinity’.
Produced by One Above, (The Hilltops) the new single demonstrates Chance’s lyrical potency and his potential to push the typical boundaries of the hip-hop genre with an up-beat tempo, off-beat rhythm, piano-rock influences and live instrumentation.
Following widespread national acclaim under the appellation Phatchance, Sydney hip hop artist Chance Waters is losing the alias and going ‘au naturale’ with his given name. Chance is facing a ride on a wave of aftershock following his previous success that can only further shake up the Australian hip-hop scene, as we know it.
Chance’s debut album INKSTAIN saw the artist claim Featured Artist spots on triple j Unearthed and Music NSW as well as topping charts in AMRAP’s Most Ordered To Air Chart. After sparking a rave of support including The Australian Newspaperlabeling him as “an intelligent lyricist and masterful storyteller”, Chance is well on his way to becoming a best-selling artist invigorating “a breath of fresh air” (Rave Mag).
Chance is undeniably cementing his place as a “burgeoning hip-hop star” (Dom Alessio, triple j) and carving the path for Australian hip-hop as he goes.
What did you do the year you turned 21? Hip-hop prodigy Fashawn earned a spot on the cover of XXL magazine, toured the world and built a rep as one of rap’s new rising stars.
Fashawn’s debut album, “Boys Meets World” was heralded by critics and fans alike as one of the best albums of 2009 for its gritty, street-wise and intelligent rhymes. Some even compared his introductory opus to Nas’ brilliant “Illmatic.” It was enough for XXL to name Fashawn to its list of hip-hop’s best freshman.
In 2010 he toured throughout America with Wiz Khalifa, then followed that up with a Talib Kweli tour. Fashawn is also no stranger to the International Hip Hop scene touring with Dilated Peoples in 2009 and most recently Rakim in 2011.From coast to coast, and from continent to continent, everyone agreed – they weren’t seeing some fly-by-night novelty act, they were seeing one of hip-hop’s freshest new voices.
Many took notice: He worked with Grammy-winning producers Dr. Dre, DJ Khalil and Alchemist, featured on songs with J. Cole, Aloe Blacc and a handful of tomorrow’s future stars. Skateboardapparel company Etnies and urban clothing line Orisue both turned to him for endorsements. Camp Woodward, the biggest extreme sports camp in the world, recruited him to create a song/TV commercial and his hometown Fresno Grizzlies (AAA baseball) have made custom Fashawn merchandise to sell at their events. So that’s legendary hip-hop producers, international clothing lines and a pro sports franchise all wanting to be part of Team Fashawn.
With a strong hip-hop pedigree (think Rakim’s merciless rhymes plus 2pac’s outlaw spirit plus Nas’ effortless flow) and a loyal fan base of young listeners, Fashawn seems poised for the long haul.
